What the app stores

Your reading position, settings, bookmarks, highlights and notes are stored only on your device. There is no account. Nothing you read is sent to us unless you ask for an explanation of a passage (see below).

What is collected

• Purchases. Premium is sold through Google Play. Google, and our purchase-verification provider, process the purchase token and an anonymous app identifier to unlock Premium and restore it on reinstall.
• Usage analytics. Google Analytics for Firebase records anonymous, aggregated app events (screens opened, chapters read, whether the upgrade screen was shown) together with a resettable app-instance identifier and, on Android, the advertising ID. It tells us which features are used; it is never linked to a name or email, and it never includes what you read or search for.
• Crash reports. If the app crashes, an anonymous technical report (device model, OS version, stack trace) may be sent so we can fix the bug. It contains no verse text or personal data.
• Explanations. When you tap “Explain this passage”, the app sends the verse text and reference, the translation and language you use, and an anonymous device identifier to our server, which forwards it through OpenRouter to an AI model (currently Anthropic's Claude) under those providers' terms and returns the explanation. Our server keeps a per-device count of free requests for the current day in memory and caches answers per verse and language, not per person. Nothing is linked to a name or email, and this happens only when you use the feature.
• Advertising. Some free users may see ads served by Google AdMob; Supporters never do, and most users see none. Only when ads are shown, AdMob (Google) processes the advertising ID, IP address and device information to deliver and measure ads. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent first, and without it only non-personalised ads are shown. Google’s use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
• Translation downloads. Downloading a translation requests a file from our server; standard server logs (IP address, time) are kept briefly for operation and security.

What is not collected

No name, email, location or contacts. No data is sold, and nothing beyond the advertising data described above is shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Your choices

You can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, and change your ad consent from the app’s Settings when ads are shown. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device; to have analytics data deleted from our systems, write to the address below.

Notifications

The daily verse notification is scheduled locally on your device and can be turned off in Settings.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Bible texts

Scripture texts are public domain or open-licensed; attribution is shown in Settings → Translations & licences.
